ready for tomorrow!

Obviously mom hasn't given me a minute to type in the last couple days ... and now she's only allowing me 30 seconds! Tomorrow I will officially celebrate my birthday. They'll start the party at about 10:30 when mom will begin on the induction medicine.

FELIZ CUMPLEANOS-HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! Wait til you all see how cute I am!

a relaxing end to a relaxing weekend ...

What a fantastic end to a really wonderful weekend! Today mommy and daddy decided to really take advantage of their last Sunday sans ... me.

The day started and ended perfectly : First, daddy brought mommy breakfast in bed and they vegged out watching TV for a while. (insert snuggles and cuddles.) A little bit later they went downstairs to the pool and relaxed in the sunshine. Mmmm. I loved the vitamin D!

Happy!
Finally, they finished the day by taking the dogs to Parque Las Lilas and they sat in the grass in the shade and watched the dogs make new friends (insert more snuggles and great conversation.)

Parque Las Lilas

Charlie Brown and Lucy make friends!!

I think I'm just about ready for my grand entrance. Mom and dad really seem to be really enjoying life out there ... I bet I will too!
Today we went to see Vicky and Jose. (aka. my grandparents!) They cooked daddy's favorite dish ... Bistec a lo pobre. Basically, it's a dish of thinnly sliced beef and french fries. But the "a lo pobre" part makes it special because this adds a fried egg with all the yolky stuff on top. It's yummmmmy, but I think mom ate a little too much because her tummy is now making noises that closely resemble an angry dog! All worth it though :)

That's me, mommy, grandma Vicky and grandpa. Daddy was taking the picture ... but obviously he was there smiling too!!

fab friday

I decided to let up a bit on moms back last night so she was in much, much better spirits today. Sleep does wonders for moms mood. The paybacks are fantastic for me too!

Today we woke up early and took the two barking creatures for a long walk in the park. It is spring in the southern hemishere and Santiago has bloomed! The air smells sweet of confetti flowers which are sprinkled in the freshly cut green grass. It's also at a just right temperature. ahhhh.

After that, auntie Jo came to have lunch with us! Mommy made raviolli with a yummy meat sauce and then the ladies talked and talked and talked. Auntie Jo's funny accent is hard for me to understand and it usually puts me to sleep. Today was no exception, I was content, warm and full and the lull of the ladies talking ... zzzzzzzz.

Now, daddy is home from work and is stretching his vocal cords singing. He does this a lot on Fridays and it never fails to make my mommy laugh. Some of the songs I like a lot ... and others ... not so much. Today he seems to be practicing some new songs ... he definitely needs to work a little more on these, but don't tell him I said so, ok?

After this?? Who knows .. but I must say, this day they call Friday sure has been a nice one so far :)

countdowns are for sissys

Well, we're back from our appointment. The clinic rocks! I love it when Dr. Enriquez takes pictures of me, and don't even get me started on the wobble walk ... soooo relaxing! Mommy, on the other hand, is not in the best of spirits. She was hoping to get to see me tomorrow. Seriously, can you blame her? Instead, Dr. Enriquez told her I've got a bit of time left until my big introduction to the world. I guess I'm the only one who knows that secret date. Anyway, from what I understand they are gonna tug me out anyway on Wednesday. Don't I have any say in this!?!

1st: I may have been concieved at night, but it wasn't last night! I know it's a tough world out there. I can't see it, but I can certainly hear it! Earthquakes, 10 year wars, economic crisis, strikes, miners stuck underground ... alarm clock blaring at 6:30am!! I mean, seriously, why don't I let you all get that mess cleaned up first?

2nd: I know, I know. I'm one heck of an awesome fetus. I'm cool, I'm cute, I'm pretty smart too ... but seriously, I'm not even late yet. What's with all the anxiety? I'll be out soon enough! I'm getting my hair and nails done ... which is more than I can say for mommy. helllllllo.

3rd: Finally, to really put this into perspective, just realize I'm actually doing this for you. Yes, all of you. I'm gonna be looking for a lot of attention once I'm there. I'm giving you a bit of time ... to rest, to relax, for quiet nights at home. I know, it's hard to see now ... but trust me, you'll appreciate the extra couple of days.

So, regardless of whether I go to your world freely or if I'm am tugged out on the 27th ...
Countdowns are for sissys. I'll be there eventually! Promise.

a bit about our doctor ...

After a particulary trying evening of contractions and back pain, mom is counting down the hours for her appointment today with Doctor Enriquez. At this moment we have exactly 3 hours and 51 minutes left to wait.

To kill a bit of time, I'll tell you a little about our doctor:

Dr. Enriquez is in his late 40s I'd say and attends at two different locations. One, at Clinica Alemana (on the right, that's where mom is gonna have me) and the other in a little office by the clinic (that is where we get the 3D images done). He's a jolly fellow, in someways similar to Santa Claus. On the chubby side, pink cheeks, kinda shakes when he laughs ... probably likes cookies too.

Anyway, the truth is is that I'm pretty fond of the guy. He's a calm talker, non-overreacter and I know mommy feels very comfortable with him. Daddy too! The best part is that mommy can speak in english with him, and daddy in spanish ... so that makes for a lot less confusing appointments and clear explanations when we head back home.

I guess that's about it. I'll try to get mom to update you all after our appointment. Maybe we'll get a date of my big entrance!!

since I'm not actually BORN yet ...

I figured since I'm not actually OOTW (out of the womb) yet I should maybe first do a little family introduction so you know where I come from.

Mommy's from Gainesville Florida. If you were to look it up in Wikipedia (I'll save you the trouble) you'd see it a little city of about 125,000 inhabitants smack dab in the middle of north central Florida. It's known for the University of Florida and (evidently) for the diversity of the music scene. Mommy lived most of her life there and graduated in 2004 with a degree in Family, Youth and Community Science. (don't worry, no one can figure out what the degree is, and I won't bother to try to explain it). In 2006 she took a little trip to Santiago, Chile and to make a long story short, ended up falling in love and shacking up with and marrying ...

Daddy. Daddy has lived his whole life in Santiago, Chile. It's the capital of the country with about 6 million residents. Santiago is known for wine, earthquakes and smog, as far as I know, and checking Wikipedia didn't give me much else. Daddy finished his degree in Business administration at Diego Portales and I think he is the smartest daddy on the planet! He was working at CMPC and taking english classes when he and mom met. It wasn't exactly love at first sight, but I can tell you now that they are perfect for each other and seriously a match made in heaven!

Then comes me. (This is the fun part!!) I was probably conceived  on the 30th or 31st of January during one of many weekend romps in the sack :) hey, don't blame me for not remembering ... I was only cells! I was unplanned and a big ole surprise for both my parents, but they obviously were overjoyed with the news! Now, I'm starting to grow up big and strong. I haven't decided to leave the womb yet because it is just sooo cozy in here BUT my grand appearance will be within the week for sure!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to your visits, whether from near or far. I'll try to keep this page updated with pictures too so you'll all be able to watch me grow!
