sniff sniff

Well, I'm only one month old, but today I experienced my saddest day yet. Grammy left an hour ago to go back to her home in Florida. I miss her already. Mommy came home from the airport with red, teary eyes so I know she is missing her too.

We had a lot of fun while she was here ; decorating my room, taking walks, singing songs and bouncing, walking the dogs, making yummy dinners, and above all doing a lot ... A LOT of loving.

I know she'll be back one day and I already can't wait.

If you're out there reading grammy .... I LOVE YOU! :)

sebastian's birthday

Today I was invited to my very first birthday party! My cousin, Sebastian, had his 3rd birhtday party and it was really, really fun.

We went to my aunt Veronica and uncle Guillo's house at around 1:30. We ate hotdogs, chips, and ate tons of junk food. Yum, yum!

All the kids went swimming in the pool while I looked on.

All that action made me really sleepy and it was great to sit in the sun and feel the breeze :) ahhh what a day!

giving thanks ...

On Thursday I got to experience a very special day called Thanksgiving and I tell ya what ... it was a pretty cool holiday! My grammy cooked a very special dinner for the Atria-Aguirre-Luke family and she whipped up some very yummy traditional fixins. We had turkey, cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, greenbeans and asparagos ... and even southern style sweet tea! I particularily loved the pecan pie for dessert :)

Not only was I feeling full, but I was also feeling very thankful! I'm thankful for all my family who love me so much ... and particularily, in thsee days, I am feeling very thankful for my grammy. She has been a very big help to my mommy and daddy and she has been giving me the best loving you could imagine. She wakes up early to give me bottles, she sings to me when my tummy hurts, she gives great toe massages during my baths, she is soooo patient ... and she loves me like crazy ... almost as much as my mommy and daddy do.

So even though I have many, many things and many many people to be thankful for ... today I want to specifically say thanks to grammy.  YOU'RE THE BEST and  I LOVE YOU!

splish splash and squeaky clean!

What a night!! Tonight I got my very first bath. Mommy and daddy warmed the water up really nice and grammy took really embarrassing pictures. It was ... well, AMAZING! I loved it!

Mommy has insisted that I post a couple pictures ... so here, for your viewing enjoyment ... is ME!
Happy bathing :)

Yesterday was quite a day! In the morning mommy and grammy went shopping and I got to spend the morning alone with my daddy. He took really good care of me and it was nice to spend some special time with him. I misbehaved a little and was kinda cranky with him, so by the time mommy and grammy came home I think daddy was ready to hand me off.

grammy in my new pad

Mommy and grammy did a really, really good time shopping. They brought home 4 bags and a lot of the stuff ws for ME! Now my room looks really cool! They built a bookcase and covered my favorite breastfeeding chair. Ahh so peaceful in my room now. Here are some pretty pictures :

CHILE 2 - uruguay 0

Watching the game with Mommy and Daddy

great is ... great!

A highlight for yesterday was meeting my great grandma Adriana and my great aunt Cecilia.
They live a couple hours away in ConCon, but yesterday they were in Santiago and took a couple hours out to come meet me and give me cuddles. They were both so nice, I hope that they come back soon!

my first family BBQ ...

It has been a busy couple of days again. Surprise, surprise! Mommy and grammy have been taking care of me and daddy. Daddy has tonsilitis and is taking antibiotics and I ... well I'm a baby. Duh, they HAVE to take care of me!

We still have had a chance to have a little bit of fun though. On Sunday we went to grandpa Jose and Gradma Vicky's house for lunch. They had a BBQ that smelled very yummy. We also all sat outside on the patio and it was warm and sunny. The best part of the day was that I got a chance to meet my uncle Guillo and my cousins Sebastian, Catalina and Maite for the first time. They were really cool. Catalina and Maite have been sick though (it must be going around) so I couldn't be very close to them. Anyway, we all still got to pose for a few pictures together ...

That's my uncle Guillo, tata, and aunt Veronica

Here is my little cousin Maite with aunt Veronica

Here's me with daddy and mommy

My cousin Sebastian. He is a lot of fun!

Here's the whole gang! We're a good looking bunch aren't we ... too bad I was slepping for this shot.

as if I didn't already know it ...

My mommy has really, really good milk!

This morning grammy, mommy and I went to my first pediatritian appointment with Dr. Rodriguez. He was a very nice man with soft hands and a gentle touch. He talked softly to me and smiled a lot. He's a keeper!

The best news is that I have been gaining weight since I left the hospital. I'm up to 4.110 kilos. That's over 400 grams that I've gained since I left. Mommy tells me to literally "eat it up" because this is the only time in my life I'll be happy about gaining pounds and inches. So .... HOOOORAY. I'm a little fatty!!!

We also got the results from all the blood tests they took in the hospital and the doctor says I am completely normal and very, very, verrrry healthy! Not to brag, but he said it has been a long time since he's seen a baby doing SO well at their first checkup.

The bad news for the day is that daddy is sick and the doctor says he's not allowed to give me cuddles or kisses. In fact, he has to keep 3 feet away from me so that his bugs don't jump over onto me. I miss him very much but I hope that tomorrow he will be better.

Tomorrow we have plans to have a BBQ with my grandma Vicky and grandpa Jose. I can't wait to see them!

For your viewing enjoyment, here are a couple pictures of me :)

On my fun new playmat :)

I'm so alert! not to mention CUTE!

visitor vibrations ...

Wow, I'm finding that it is pretty tough to keep up wih all this activity! With so much on my plate I find myself snoozing more and more these days and with less time to blog.

I usually wake up in the morning between 6-8. (There's really no telling, it just depends on my mood the night before.) After my breakfast I sleep until about noon and then wake up to eat again. Mom is breastfeeding me and I am usually full after the first breast. She's got lots of really yummy stuff in there!! Then ... more sleep, and more eating scattered throughout the day at intervals of about every 4 hours.

I admit I'm crying a lot more now too, but mommy still says I'm the perfect baby!

Yesterday was a very busy day. My godmother, Veronica, came to visit me in the afternoon. She is my daddy's sister and she is really, really nice and very beautiful. Her smile is contagious and she lights up the room when she laughs. I like her very, very much!

After Veronica's visit my mommy and grammy took me to the Jumbo supermaket. Well, actually, they took me on a carride because I actually didn't get to go inside the store. Mommy is a little worried that I'm too young to be around too many people. So, mommy did the shopping and grammy sat in the car with me keeping me company.

After the carride we took a quick walk in the park with Charlie and Lucy. I loved my new stroller so much that I decided to fall asleep. I can't tell you what the park looked like, but I can say that the bumps in the road were really good for my sore crying muscles!

Finally, in the night my grandma Vicky came to visit. It had been a while since I had seen her because her and grandpa Jose were a little sick. Luckily, grandma is much better and she was very happy to give me snuggles. It was really cool having both my grandmas with me ... and really funny to hear them talking. You know, one speaks english and the other spanish ... so, last night I was practicing a NEW language! Spanglish!!!

Can't wait to see what the next few days has in store for me!

i like my grammy very. very much~

Yesterday my grammy arrived from Gainesville. She had to come a very long way to see me ... but based on her reaction I would say that I was worth the trip!

She got to Santiago airport at 7:30 in the morning and daddy went to pick her up. She had a lot of bags and guess what?! about half of her stuff was for me!
So far we haven't done very much except snuggle, do a little reading and get to know each other. I think if the weather is nice tomorrow we'll go for a walk in the park with the dogs. Won't that be fun!!

See you all then!

getting ready for grandma

Today is a rainy, uky day in Santiago. I've been taking naps all morning (since I was up crying all night), daddy is cooking lunch and mom has been cleaning house preparing for grandma's visit tomorrow. The sheets are in the washing machine, the dishes are all clean, beds made, and toilets scrubbed. Grammy will be here soon! Hoooray!

So, for my post today I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea to show you where I live.

Here's a couple shots:

This is our apartment building. It's hard to get the whole thing in (it's 17 floors tall)

Here's a shot of the pool. I can't wait to dip my feet in there!
Welcome!

Here's my room. I'm not actually sleeping in there yet though ... it's much cozier with mom and dad.

Speaking of mom and dad, here's their room and DADDY! Organizing his socks! I better go, he looks like he needs a hug.

special delivery ...

Today we all got a very special delivery! Auntie Jo brought over starbucks and blueberry muffins! It was great to finally meet her. I had heard her voice lots and lots while I was inside the womb but today I actually got to meet her and make funny faces at her! She is really nice and gives really good cuddles! I especially liked it when she tickled my feet.

I wonder who will come to visit next?!

one week old and sleeping every minute of it!

Okay, so i'm not sleeping EVERY minute, but i am sleeping a lot. I still have a lot to update, so i guess i better get started before supper time!

Well, first ... the labor. It was tough, no kidding. Mom went to the hospital on Wednesday the 27th at 9:30 and the doctor gave her a pill to get things rolling. Well, even though the contractions started, things did not ... roll. I had been sleeping head up so the contractions were pushing and pushing but I was staying put and mom's cervix was not dialating.

So then, the doc put mom on a drip to try to speed things up. Again, the contractions came heavier and heavier, but I didn't budge. I mean seriously, do you like to be bothered in the middle of a nap? Can you blame me? So finally, OUCH! The doctor went in and broke my "bag" of amniotic fluid. Now that was rude, but I do admit, I did get my tushy in motion after that. Things weren't as cozy inside anymore.

Mom was really battling with the contractions and the dialation luckily started to go quicker after the bag had been broken. At 2:45 the anethesiologist came in to give mom an epidural. Mom had dialated 5-6 cm and was really ready for the pain relief. Ahhhh. I could feel mom relax, and I was finally able to relax too. I was ready to come out!

The doctor came back to check on me at 7:30 and he decided it was getting close!  and even better ... he realized that he could turn me into a better position! At 8:00 mommy starting pushing. 4 contractions and 5 pushes and I was out! 8:20 pm. WOW, what a bright new world!!

Since then life has been suprisingly breezy! We all stayed at the hospital for 3 nights. Dad slept on the pull out couch in the room with mommy and I went to the nursery and spent my night with the fantastic nurses who really took great care of me. I met a lot of family and friends. My first visitor was aunt Coca and the last was great uncle Juan and great aunt Monica. In between were friends and more family too many to count. Mommy's room was full of presents for me and the most gorgeous flowers you've ever seen!!

We came home on Saturday morning. I wore a very cute 3 piece outfit that great grandma Vita gave me. I was seriously adorable if I do say so myself!

At the house I met the barking dogs Charlie and Lucy. At first they didn't know what to think of me. I had made a stinky poop, so maybe it was the poopy that they found so exciting to sniff. Now I'm sure we're all going to be good friends oneday!

Mommy and daddy had a lot to figure out those first couple hours and days. You all should have seen daddy changing my diaper ... and mommy trying to breastfeed with a sore bottom. If I could laugh I really would have! Everyday gets easier and easier though. Mom and I have finally figured out the finer details of breastfeeding and daddy changes me like a pro. He is very cute! he talks through the steps the nurse taught him at the hospital. ("Un siete, y botamos. Un siete, y botamos.")

Anyway, at the end of the day we are all very tired and sometimes frustrated, but I can definitely say that I love my family very, very much and I can tell that they love me very much too.

Thank you all for welcoming me to the world ...
