i'm flippin fantastic!

Mommy grabbed the camera today to take some shots of me with my head up in my crib. I decided to give her a REAL show. I not only raised up my head ... but I flipped over for her too! Shucks, she couldn't get me on film ... but here are some action shots!

mama's got a brand new bag!

It's pretty much official, my mommy is going to leave me ... to go back to work. I know that it was a really hard decision for her to make. We had many sleepless nights ...

The thing is, the offer was a pretty good one. Mommy will be working in a Montessori school with little kids. It is what she has wanted to do for a long time, but there just weren't any opportunities available. Well, this one came out of the blue and it seems to fit her like a glove.

I think the hardest part is that we'll be apart and I'm so teeny tiny. I keep telling mommy that part of the time she'll be away is nap time anyway. I also remind her that a "school schedule" means that she'll get all the school holidays and she'll have the summers free. Finally, I say that it's a contract and that she'll have insurance and pension payments. But when all that doesn't work, I belt out my highest pitch screams and wails and then she smiles and says, "yeah, I guess I can do this."

So, she's decided. She's going to talk to the director tomorrow and she'll start on February 24th.

Now, what is she going to do with me, you ask? Mommy told me they are going to hire a nanny, the best around. I hope they find one as nice to me as mommy is :)

hip hip hooray!

Again to the clinic ... but today to get my hips checked out. Goodness, they check for everything here!!

First they put some slimmy stuff all over my leg and tooshy and then they rubbed this cold picture taker all over the place. Mommy said it reminded her of her ultrasounds ... I didn't like it very much, but I was brave and I let them go picture snapping crazy.

It seems that my hips are just fine. hip hip hooooray!

normal and average

Today mommy, daddy and I went to Clinica Alemana to see Dr. Rodriguez. It was time for my 3 month checkup. (I know, I'm getting up there, aren't I?)

So, my buddy Dr. R checked me out and tested to see if I had hit the "normal milestones" for my age. I don't know what exactly "milestones" are but I seemed to pass his tests. When he smiled at me, I smiled back. When he stood me up, I put my weight on my feet. When he took my hands out of my mouth, I put them right back. When he wiggled a light in my eyes, I followed it.

I overheard the doctor telling mommy that everything seems completely "normal" for my age and that I am reaching those milestone thingys at the appropriate time.

After my little tests, mommy stripped me down to my bare bum and Dr. R put me on the scale. I've gained 700 grams and now weigh 4.740kilos (10.5 pounds). I've also grown a couple centimeters and am now up to 59cm tall! Mommy and daddy were especially happy since mommy had been afraid that I hadn't been eating as much. I coulda told her that I was ... but she's such a worry wort!

Anyway, Dr. R assured mommy and daddy that I am smack dab in the middle of my age group for weight and height.

So, everyone celebrate!!! I'm normal and average, and couldn't be any happier!!!

my big accomplishment!

Today was a big day for me. I boldly went where no other Atria-Luke has ever been before! Today, I discovered that my hands can actually DO things, other than be in my mouth for sucking. Check out these pics and videos ... and then, go ahead, say you're impressed!

Concentration 100%

Cute and smart - go figure!

soon to be legal!

Tomorrow is going to be a big day for me. I'm going to put on my prettiest dress, comb my hair nice, (hopefully) have a smile ready, and then ... I'm off to the U.S embassy to get get my citizenship papers! Once I'm officially "American" I'll be able to get my passport and have a Social Security number too. That means I'll have all the rights and privileges just like my mommy does. What a big day! Wish me luck!

weekend trip to Cajon del Maipo

Okay, so I'm a little late posting the details of our (last) weekend trip. You must forgive me, I was busy fighting off a nasty vaccine hangover with a fever and a feeling of overall crankiness.

On Saturday the Atria-Luke crew woke up early and started packing up the car for our day trip to Cajon del Maipo. We met 4 friends up in the mountains and had an incredible BBQ with all the fixins! It was my first time out of the city and I loved the fresh air! We took stroller walks along the water and even got to see these big strange stinky animals called horses. They sort of reminded me of our doggies, just a lot bigger!

Here are a few pictures from our visit.

Here I am, happy in my stroller!

Me with my mommy and Daddy.

Daddy and the guys start cooking!

Finally eating ... and sleeping in my case.

my first vaccinations

This morning I went with mommy and daddy to Clinica Alemana. It was the start of V day. Yup. Vaccines!

I got .. count em ... two big jabs in each arm and well, I'm ticked off. That's about all I can say. Now I am going to go scream for a while more and hopefully will start feeling better soon. Yes, the screaming helps.

HAPPY 2011!

My message may be a six day older ... but it still has just as much spunk behind it!

Happy 2011 everyone!

Mommy, daddy and I spent New Years Eve over at aunt Veronica and uncle Guillo's house. Tata and Grandma Vicky were there too and I tell you what, those oldies know how to party! We had really yummy food and drink; entrana, lomo, salads, choripan, red wine, and vodka pears. We also even go to see the fireworks at midnight from the front yard. Toooo cool! Afterwards, Tata and Uncle Guillo went swimming in the pool while the rest looked on and laughed!

Here are a few pictures from our night. My family looks pretty crazy, hhuh? How embarrrrasssssing!

There's mommy representing the good ole USA!

Uncle Guillo and Tata splish splashing!

Daddy with Grandma Vicky. Doesn't daddy look mysterious?

...and here's my favorite aunt!
The next day, in my opinion, was even better than the night. "The kids" all woke up at Vero and Guillo's and we spent the ENTIRE day outside at the pool eating BBQ. The day was sunny and warm and the best part was that we were all there together :) I got to see my cousins, and I love them a lot ... even though they are pretty noisy!

Here are some shots from Saturday :

There's me .. I spent most of the day half naked ... it was HOT!

That's my cousin Sebastian and uncle Guillo playing in the pool

Me a daddy a few minutes before daddy jumped in the pool.
Wow! I sure hope I'm as cute as Maite and Cata one day!
So, sorry it took me so long to send my HAPPY NEW YEAR wishes. But, I sure hope your celebrations were as fun as ours ... and I hope to see you all very soon in 2011!
