one week old and sleeping every minute of it!

Okay, so i'm not sleeping EVERY minute, but i am sleeping a lot. I still have a lot to update, so i guess i better get started before supper time!

Well, first ... the labor. It was tough, no kidding. Mom went to the hospital on Wednesday the 27th at 9:30 and the doctor gave her a pill to get things rolling. Well, even though the contractions started, things did not ... roll. I had been sleeping head up so the contractions were pushing and pushing but I was staying put and mom's cervix was not dialating.

So then, the doc put mom on a drip to try to speed things up. Again, the contractions came heavier and heavier, but I didn't budge. I mean seriously, do you like to be bothered in the middle of a nap? Can you blame me? So finally, OUCH! The doctor went in and broke my "bag" of amniotic fluid. Now that was rude, but I do admit, I did get my tushy in motion after that. Things weren't as cozy inside anymore.

Mom was really battling with the contractions and the dialation luckily started to go quicker after the bag had been broken. At 2:45 the anethesiologist came in to give mom an epidural. Mom had dialated 5-6 cm and was really ready for the pain relief. Ahhhh. I could feel mom relax, and I was finally able to relax too. I was ready to come out!

The doctor came back to check on me at 7:30 and he decided it was getting close!  and even better ... he realized that he could turn me into a better position! At 8:00 mommy starting pushing. 4 contractions and 5 pushes and I was out! 8:20 pm. WOW, what a bright new world!!

Since then life has been suprisingly breezy! We all stayed at the hospital for 3 nights. Dad slept on the pull out couch in the room with mommy and I went to the nursery and spent my night with the fantastic nurses who really took great care of me. I met a lot of family and friends. My first visitor was aunt Coca and the last was great uncle Juan and great aunt Monica. In between were friends and more family too many to count. Mommy's room was full of presents for me and the most gorgeous flowers you've ever seen!!

We came home on Saturday morning. I wore a very cute 3 piece outfit that great grandma Vita gave me. I was seriously adorable if I do say so myself!

At the house I met the barking dogs Charlie and Lucy. At first they didn't know what to think of me. I had made a stinky poop, so maybe it was the poopy that they found so exciting to sniff. Now I'm sure we're all going to be good friends oneday!

Mommy and daddy had a lot to figure out those first couple hours and days. You all should have seen daddy changing my diaper ... and mommy trying to breastfeed with a sore bottom. If I could laugh I really would have! Everyday gets easier and easier though. Mom and I have finally figured out the finer details of breastfeeding and daddy changes me like a pro. He is very cute! he talks through the steps the nurse taught him at the hospital. ("Un siete, y botamos. Un siete, y botamos.")

Anyway, at the end of the day we are all very tired and sometimes frustrated, but I can definitely say that I love my family very, very much and I can tell that they love me very much too.

Thank you all for welcoming me to the world ...
